Understanding different views
There are three primary ways of looking at your team's structure within Compass: people, channels, and surveys. To switch between these views, use the Views dropdown in the top right corner of the map.
This view connects people based on @mentions and direct messages between people (if private message insights are enabled). You can change the threshold for when a connection is drawn between two people based on the number of @mentions or direct messages.
This view connects people based on the channels they post to. You can change the threshold for when a connection is drawn between a person and a channel based on how many messages they post to that channel.
You can use the Surveys tool to send questions out to your teammates. After you run a survey, you can select it from the Views tool, and Compass will re-draw a brand new version of your map based on the type of question you're asking and the way your teammates answered.
Surveys are an incredibly powerful way to view your team's structure in a different light, especially when you suspect your team structure isn't quite captured by the messages & mentions analysis.
